Why is it that when I try and change my password, my whole password doesn't fit in the current password section?

i tried to change my password and its really long. it works when i log on, but it says incorrect password entered when i write it on the current password section. then i wrote it on another section where you entered the email and it didn't show the full password. only half. then i counted the amount of letters in my password and then i counted how many letters came up when i entered it on the current password section. it shows less than the real amount of my password length. it wont let me change my password. can someone explain why and help me change it?
