if i choose autopick? It is a good thing?

i hate to loose am in a very competitive league with friends n cousins i log in every whether match or not sometimes i be tempted to take an auto pick formation on what basis the COM do the selection? and if you are experimented i want to know the tactics to not lose for example makin a draw match become a win or a lose becoming a draw!
