Soccer Manager believes that most of the answers to your questions are covered within our Help.

no they do not update, you will have to buy him.

If it is a brand new game world all players are with the correct clubs.

However if it is a game world into its 5th+ season you will find most players are not at the clubs they are meant to be in real life.

But, an unmanaged game world club/external club will sometimes try and buy back player who actually play for that team in real life.
