Answer

This is because when you have an abundance of players for the same position, the average value of a player decreases. I will elaborate this. Suppose, you have a striker say rated 90-91 priced at 14m. But when you buy two other strikers, if one of them is better than your previous striker, age wise or rating wise, this striker will take up a higher value say 15m, while your previous striker will take up value 13m. Suppose your defender is rated 90-91 and is aged the same as your striker, his value may be much higher say 16m, if you don't have enough players in CD region. So the many players you have for the same position, the more the player values will decrease. Sometimes, if you sell off players, player value increases. Say, you had two strikers in the age bracket 25-30 rated 90-91, both priced around 12-13m. If you sell any one of them you'll find the other's value increasing. See for yourself! When signing a player from an unmanaged club you might have to pay a higher/lower price than what you expected to pay a week earlier. This is player transfer for that position has taken place. Another thing, sometimes you'll observe that a player of another team similar(age wise and rating wise) to one of your players might have a higher price than your player. This is because that club thinks highly of that player, as there is not much depth in that squad in that position.
