Soccer Manager believes that most of the answers to your questions are covered within our Help.

Some players retire early due to various reasons ranging from pursuing a career in coaching or even to begin to run their own business. Some retire due to injury or health-related problems (i.e. Ruben de la Red). Age isn't the only factor. Not all players can have longevity like Maldini or Van Der Sar to name a few.
