Stamina always decreases after a game. I don't believe that the day has to do anything with it. I have easily played my same team for the 2 league games a week numerous times. You have to rotate your squad always. Maybe you played the same team for a cup game in between the league games and that is why the stamina levels are so low. If the levels presently are too low to play in then change your whole squad and give them a rest. From next time onwards you will be available to play them for 2 league games a week. For cup games in between league matches rotate your squad. This has always worked well for me.
