WHY CAN'T I USE MY LAST CLUB SLOT, am using 7/8 but the game is preventing me from adding my 8th

I have 8 club slots but currently managing 7. Every time I try adding the 8th,it says am at my maximum yet it's clearly stated 7/8 clubs
