This has happened to me 3 times against the same club when buying an external player.
I offered a better deal for the players i.e more money plus two better rated players than the other club did yet 3 times the players went to the same team with a worst offer???
Makes me think wheats the point in actually playing SM when its becoming so unrealistic!!
The external club picks the offer that is the best value.
Players are valued based upon age, rating and importance to the club.
Importance takes into account the above and the other players at the club's disposal in each area - defense, midfield etc.
Say you have two defenders valued at £5m each by your chairman. You offer these two and £10m to an external club for a player of theirs.
Although this deal is worth £20m (£10m + £5m + £5m) to your chairman, to the external club it might be worth far more or less depending on how much they need the players you have offered.
If the external club already had better defenders than those you offered, but only had a couple of 80 rated forwards, then a rival bidder could probably offer £7m and two 86 rated forwards and be successful because the other chairman will value this bid more than your own.
This is all just rough numbers I am giving, of course.
When I bid on external club players I offer the players that their club will value highly (it shows you the value to both chairman when you are making the bid) as this maximises the chances of getting your man.
