Soccer Manager believes that most of the answers to your questions are covered within our Help.

    You can talk to your friends by clicking on their profile and then choosing the option to Send Private Message. You can find your friends via Home>Profile>Find Friends.

    I don't think there is a screen you can view to see when they are online.
