what does having the players on the youth team do? does it u their rating at all?

I wanted to make sure its ok to buy a few for my youth squad..

Players' ratings are only affected by the sm moderators, so it won't make a difference to that. Putting players in your youth squad is just a tool to help you arrange your squad in order of importance (i.e. the most important are in your 1st team, the players who you hope will improve at forthcoming rating changes in your youth team). Players are not affected by it.
