How is player rating decided by Soccer managers staff?

Is it decided by considering player popularity, the form of player or what? its surely not decided on player form because Drogba got a -1 rating just because he joined an unpopular team. ratings should be decided completely on players form, popularity should not have anything to do with it

    i understand that chinese league is not a very competitive league but drogba is yet to play a match for shanghai and the rating has been reduced. This surely means that the fall in rating has got nothing to do with performance there. he is yet to perform for shanghai. i object this decision because only the team popularity has been considered to lower the rating which is wrong. the ability of the player and his form (performances) should be used to decide the rating.

    The ratings are done by soccerwiki. When you open a player's bio you see their name. With Drogba, I am a bit surprised with their decision to lower his rating as he has just won the Champions League, but it nothing to do with popularity. He has joined a team in China and seriously speaking Chinese league football is not competitive or considered big at the world stage against England, Spain, Italy etc. Except his rating to be below 90 by the year end for sure.
