Is it possible to reserve a club for which no GW is currently mooted?

Additional Details
Wish to manage either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the next new Spanish GW. However, over the last 6 weeks every one appeared with these 2 clubs already taken. I recognise that a private league will start with the owners chosen club taken, but it seems queer that always these 2 are both taken. Suspect that some people have pre-reserved. Is this possible?

Yes, clubs can be reserved via the SM Shop which might be why teams of high demand like Barcelona are taken.
