The correct Answer is for 2 seasons not two years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Towards the end of the season you will be notified within your Club Messages of any players that are in the final year of their contract and you can approach them to offer them a new contract for either 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years. Likewise if you are desperate to tie down a player, it might be wise to offer them a new contract.
Prior to offering a new contract you will be notified the wage the player expects up to, and their agent and your Chairman will negotiate the exact amount.
If you have just signed a new player or you have just offered a new contract to a player, you will not be able to give them a new contract until the next season. The only exception to this rule is if your player has a concern (see Player Concerns) over their wage, then you will be able to offer them a new contract. This link is from the Players profile under New Contract which also might help.
