Why if they are called free agents are they not free. It make no sense ????????
They are free in the sense that they currently are not attached to any club. It doesn't mean that they are free of charge!

It's just an addition to the game so people can't hog loads of free agents, plus in real life a player is sometimes payed a large amount of cash up front for his services before his wages.
