would like to see if there is any players without a club
If you go to Gameworld > New Players then you will find the players who have just been added to the database. Some of these will be added as Free Agents, who you can sign for 75% of value as already stated.
I don't think SM will make any players totally free again as people used to just sign them all up just to sell them on for a profit.
You can also use the Transfers > Search tool. If you select the type of player you are looking for and search, then if the player is a Free Agent it will state this under the Club column on the search results.
You can't just search for ALL free agents though.

On SM you don't get free transfers but you get free agents who don't play for a club. They cost 75% of their value. I advise that you make a suggestion about free transfers.
