There are several options available in relation to a player's Transfer Status being Available, Unavailable to Loan, Loan List and Transfer List. All of these options determine the players availability within the transfer market.
Prior to offering a new contract you will be notified the wage the player expects up to, and their agent and your Chairman will negotiate the exact amount.
If you have just signed a new player or you have just offered a new contract to a player, you will not be able to give them a new contract until the next season. The only exception to this rule is if your player has a concern (see Player Concerns over their wage, then you will be able to offer them a new contract.
If you want to initiate a transfer (see transfers) you can approach other clubs that have shortlisted your player to indicate that your player is available. You can offer the interested club(s) the player for a set price. You can do this by clicking on the tick box next to the club(s) you wish to sell your player to and then enter the asking price.
Players aged 21 years or below can be moved to your Youth Squad and likewise you can promote a player from your Youth Squad to the First team. Players can be moved between the two squads freely throughout the season. However, at the seasons end any player who is no longer eligible for your Youth Squad will be promoted automatically to the first team.
You have the option of terminating a player's contract and releasing them for free. The player will then be a free agent. However, if your Chairman values the player as an important player, you will not be able to release them for free.
Within Transfer/Loan Bids you can see if any transfer or loan offers have been made for the player. If any offers have been made for one of your players, you will be displayed with information regarding the club(s) involved, the transfer fee, players offered in part exchange, status, and action. You then have the option to Action this offer/these offers by clicking on either Accept/Reject/Negotiate.
If you are viewing a Player's Profile and he is owned by another club, then there will be other options available for you to interact with him. These options all relate to enquiring about the player (as well as declaring your interest) and this is the main point of call when you are looking to make a potential transfer offer.
Sometimes going straight in with either a transfer or loan offer is not always the best way forward. If you have already identified your target then why not contact the manager directly to enquire about the player and negotiate a possible transfer or loan?
If you want to contact a manager directly then you have the option to send the manager a private message to open up transfer negotiations.
If you have highlighted a player that you are interested in buying either now or at a future date then you can add them to your shortlist.
Alternatively you can dive straight in with either a transfer or loan offer if you are confident that your transfer target would be a good acquisition for your club.
If you are satisfied that you have the right target then you will have the choice to either Make Transfer Bid or Make Loan Bid.
