Most managers will want to buy/sell players in order to create a squad in their image or to fit a certain style of play, and there are several options available within the Transfer Market which you can access in relation to transfers.
There are several different ways in which you can approach to buy a player. You can approach to buy players directly either by clicking on a squad or player name anywhere in the game or using the find club/player search to search for a particular player. All you need to do is enter part of the players surname or part of the club name you know he currently plays for.
You can access the transfer list to find out which player(s) have been put on the transfer list either by their manager or by the Chairman (due to them submitting a transfer request) and what their current asking price is.
Players on the transfer list are often players that are no longer required by their club, and therefore they should be easier to sign then if you were to approach a club directly for a player. If you don't have the necessary funds then you can see if there are free agents available.
If you find a player you wish to make an offer for then you will need to place a bid for him. However, you cannot conduct any transfers if your club's balance is negative. If the player is on the transfer list then he will have an asking price, which you can use as a guideline, otherwise you can use their Chairman's Value.
In order to make an offer, click on the players name to access his Player Profile and then on Make Transfer Bid. You will then be asked to enter your offer by filling in the available boxes before you click on Propose Offer. The first box is the amount in millions and the second box is the amount in thousands.
Prior to submitting a transfer bid the player's Chairman will inform you the minimum transfer fee they will accept and the player will also inform you the wage they expect up to. However, his agent and your Chairman will negotiate the exact amount. Your Chairman will also inform you the maximum transfer fee that they are willing to pay.
You also have the option to make an undisclosed offer by selecting Hide Offer Amount. An undisclosed offer will mean that only you and the other party will know the amount of the transfer fee involved and it will remain hidden from third parties. However, the selling club has the option to disclose the fee if they wish to alert other clubs of the transfer fee.
It is worth remembering that the minimum number of players allowed in a squad that is managed and unmanaged is 21 and 20 respectively and this can be comprised of first team and youth players, including a minimum of two goalkeepers. Players on loan do not count nor do players out on loan.
The rule involving the minimum number of players only applies to clubs within the Game World that can be managed and external clubs are exempt from this apart from those competing within SMFA competitions.
If an external club is competing in a SMFA competition you cannot purchase their last goalkeeper or any outfield player if it will take their squad below 18 players. However, you can offer a player as part of the transfer if it keeps the squad at the same level.
Please note that if you cannot conduct a transfer in one go then we advise against attempting multiple transfers due to the other manager possibly reneging on the other transfer(s) or intervention by the SMFA.
You will also have the option of adding up to two players to the deal in a straight forward player swap or cash plus player deal. To offer one or more of your players in exchange simply click on the drop down box under Offer Player(s). This will display all your players available for transfer in your squad which you can include in any potential deal. Again once you have selected which player(s) you wish to include in the deal you need to click on Propose Offer. However, you cannot conduct player exchange deals with unmanaged clubs.
If you only have 21 players in your squad (excluding players on loan) you will not be able to sell any player for money as you need to have a minimum of 21 players at all times. However, you can either buy a player for money or exchange a player in a transfer that will keep your squad the same size or increase it.
When you submit an offer for any player you have the option to make the transfer undisclosed (see undisclosed offer), and you can do this by ticking the "Hide Offer Amount" box. Once the offer has been made, you can see the details of the bid in a message within your Club Messages. You will have to wait until the other manager makes a counter offer, accepts or declines your bid before you find out if you have been successful or not. If the player you have made a bid for is from an unmanaged club then the response usually happens within 24 hours. If you wish to withdraw an offer at any time before the player moves club click on the player's name to access his Player Profile and click on the Transfer/Loan Bids tab before clicking on Withdraw Offer.
To find out if your deal has been successful or not you will have to view your Club Messages as you will be notified if you bid has been accepted, rejected or if they have made a counter-offer. If the deal has been accepted then the transfer is usually completed within 24 hours. However, not all managers will respond to a transfer offer for one reason or another, and if your offer is not responded to within 14 days then the offer will automatically be rejected by the AI. It is also worth noting that a player can refuse to sign for you if their rating is considerably higher than your squad average rating.
It is worth noting that external/unmanaged clubs and free agents accept multiple offers and then complete the best offer. This is to stop certain managers from bidding for players who have bids already placed on them only to cancel the deal once accepted. If this happens then the system will simply proceed with the next ‘best’ accepted offer.
There will probably be numerous reasons why you would want to sell a player, either to raise some much needed finance, to offload unwanted players, lower the wage bill or for other reasons. The easiest way to sell a player is by placing him on the transfer list. Once a player is placed on the transfer list you could receive an offer from an external or unmanaged club. However, the time it takes to receive this offer can vary from a few days to a few weeks.
To place one of your players on the transfer list you need to click on the player's name to access their Player Profile and then on Transfer Status button in the players profile section prior to selecting Transfer List. You will then be asked to enter the asking price for that player, the first box is the amount in millions and the second box is the amount in thousands. Once you have done that you need to click on Confirm Transfer Status. Your player will then be placed on the transfer list. Then you just need to wait for an acceptable offer to come in.
As well as placing a player on the transfer list for a set fee, you also have the option to list them for part exchange. To do this, simply leave the asking price blank. Please note that even if you have listed a player for Part Exchange Only this will not prevent another club from making a money offer.
You will be informed on any offers in your message screen within your Club Message. Once an offer has come in click on the response link next to the message and respond to the offer. You could decline, accept or counter the available offer.
If you click on Reject you will be asked to select the reason why you are rejecting this transfer offer. You will have a choice of several pre-set transfer responses to choose from within the drop down box, and once you have selected the most appropriate reason you will need to click on the Reject Offer button to action it. The reason for rejecting the transfer offer will then be displayed within both clubs Club Messages.
If you make a counter offer you will have the option of changing the transfer fee and/or adding up to two players to the deal in a straight forward player swap or cash plus player deal. You will then have to wait for a response to your counter offer and you will be informed of the outcome in a message on the Club Messages page.
Once the offer has been accepted you can see the deal details in a message on the Club Messages page. If you wish to cancel the transfer at any time before the player moves club click on the player's name to access his Player Profile and click on the Transfer/Loan Bids tab before clicking on Cancel Deal. Once the deal has been accepted then the transfer is usually completed within 24 hours.
In some cases if your finances are tight you might wish to loan (see loans) a player from another club to cover for injuries or suspensions, to improve your squad or due to lack of funds. Alternatively you might wish to place one of your players on the loan list to loan him out to a smaller club to gain experience, to get an out of favour player off the wage bill or to keep the player happy with some regular football.
External clubs can and will buy and sell players to each other. These transfers happen instantly as there is no human manager involved and the transfer ban is set to just two weeks.
The same two clubs can only make 3 transfer deals between them per season. If they have already made more than 3 transfers then they will have to wait until the next season to initiate any further transfer. However, there is an exception to this rule in that an external club can buy as many players off a managed side as they want as this does not count towards the limit.
The SMFA can and will block any transfer that they deem is unusual and/or dubious. However, this does not mean that the SMFA have accused you of cheating, as they have only blocked it to ensure the Game World remains fair.
The SMFA can and will reverse a transfer at any time if they deem it to be unusual and/or dubious. However, this does not mean that the SMFA have accused you of cheating, as they have only reversed it to ensure the Game World remains fair.
