Every club within Soccer Manager has a Chairman and their role is to work in the best interests of the club. In Soccer Manager you cannot be sacked by the Chairman and he will give you enough time, and hopefully money, to turn your squad into world beaters.
Your Chairman will automatically renew a players contract if it is about to expire in order to protect their assets and prevent them leaving for free. They will also offer new contracts to players if they want an increase in wage.
When a club becomes unmanaged it will become protected by their Chairman who will prevent any transfers with the club for a period of time. Therefore if you try to make a transfer with a club which has recently become unmanaged you will see the following message:
“You currently can not do any transfers with this club as the Chairman has recently lost their manager and it is in a transitional period. This period could last up to 7 days.”
This will allow ample time for a new manager to take control of the club whilst its Chairman protects its assets, and it will also mean that the club could be more desirable to manage due to holding on to key players.
A Chairman will look more intelligently at how many clubs a manager has taken over within that particular Game World, and is unlikely to employ a manager who constantly swaps clubs. This rule will not affect most members who play the game fairly, and only swap clubs in a individual Game World now and again after spending a while with a club. A Chairman is also unlikely to re-employ a manager who has left the same club on more than one occasion.
Your goal as manager is to ensure that your club is not only successful on the pitch but also off it in relation to your club's finances as after all football is a business. The club's Chairman must ensure that the club continues to make money and is financially sound and due to this they have an active role in transfers.
At the start of every season a Chairman will give their club an expectation, for example:
This expectation is a 'hint' of what the club should be achieving with the assets at their disposal. However, if a manager does not achieve their Chairman's expectation they will not be sacked.
The Chairman's primary task is to protect your clubs interests in the transfer market and any transfers which you might carry out.
This value is decided by the Chairman of the club the player currently plays for. This value is dependent on his significance within the club. If the player is a 'first team' player or is one of the better players within the squad the Chairman will value him highly. Different Chairman will value the player at different amounts if the player moves club.
For example AC Milan's Chairman may value one of their 'reserve' players at £3m but if the player moved to Siena, Siena's Chairman may then value him at £5m as he would be more of a key player for them.
When placing a bid for a player you will have to at least match the Chairman's valuation for the bid to be completed if the offer is accepted by the manager.
However, on occasions your Chairman may not be willing to meet the valuation of the player so you will not be able to make a transfer offer for this player.
A club's Chairman will make their transfer decisions based on a number of factors which are designed to look after the best interests of both clubs involved. The Chairman acts as a level playing field to keep the game fair and balanced. The vast majority of deals are approved by the Chairman.
The Chairman bases his decision on a number of factors including:
Gold Management does not affect the Chairman's decision and Soccer Manager will not read or reply to any support tickets regarding deals being stopped by the Chairman.
Your club will also have the option to participate in loans. You could decide to loan players in/out for a number of reasons. You might decide to take a player on loan to help cover an injury crisis or suspension and you might decide to loan out a player for him to gain first team football. Your club can loan out as many players as you wish, however you can only loan in three players. Also the Chairman will not allow you to loan out any player who is classed as an important player within their squad. Your loan offer will not be submitted and it will be blocked immediately. A message will also be displayed stating “(Name of club)’s Chairman will not loan out this player so the bid has not been submitted”.
Your Chairman will make a decision at the end of the season whether to increase the ground capacity of the stadium and this will be based on a number of factors including current capacity and division. You can not access a feature called stadium building or request to increase your stadium capacity as the decision is solely down to your Chairman.
