International Management is a unique feature exclusive to Gold Managers. Therefore if you are a Gold Manager you will have the chance to become an international manager.
Every Gold Manager has the chance to become an international manager within the various Game Worlds, and it does not matter which club you manage or what success you have experienced with them. There are 80 national associations within each Game World, and the vacant managerial positions for each association will be offered randomly to managers within the Game World. Alternatively you can take control of any vacant post by visiting the International List. However, if you have purchased either a Standard Game World or Custom Game World via Upgrades you will be able to choose a starting association to manage during the creation of the Game World.
You will only be approached by a national association within the Game World if you are currently not managing any national team within that Game World. If you are approached by one of the national associations then you will have the opportunity to accept or reject the job offer. However, if you reject the job offer then that association will not approach you again. If you accept the job offer then you will become the national manager of that association, and you will manage that national team alongside your current club. When you become a national manager of an association you will be given a contract, and each contract can last up to two seasons dependent on your success (as you can be sacked by your association).
Once you have accepted the job offer from a national association you will become the national manager of that association, and you will manage that national team alongside your current club. However, you have to be a club manager within the Game World to remain a national team manager. The only exceptions to this is if you resign as the manager of a club to accept the job offer from another club (and in this instance the national team job will switch over with you) or if you temporarily leave the Game World the national job will remain with you for a short period of time (in case you take over another club within the Game World).
As the national team manager you will be able to select any players of that nationality (even if they have retired from international football in real-life) for your squad, and you can select up to a maximum of 30 players. During the SMFA World Cup Qualifiers you can change your national squad as often as you like (as players will no doubt pick up injuries or suspensions during the course of the season). However, once the the SMFA World Cup is underway you will not be able to change any players within your squad, and you will have to compete with your lasted selected squad.
To select a player for your squad you will need to click on the Squad tab within the National Overview page. Using the Player Search facility you can select which players from your association you want to call up to your squad. You can search for a player by name or by position to add them to your squad.
Dependent on which Player Search facility you have selected will depend on the results which are displayed. To call up a player or multiple players to your national squad you will need to check the box in the last column under Action and then click on Add Selected.
The SMFA World Cup Qualifiers matches will be displayed within your schedule, and therefore it is your responsibility to ensure that you have selected your formation and tactics for each match (otherwise your association could sack you for poor results). Your national association will also allocate friendly matches to your schedule, and this will give you the chance to try out any new players, formations or tactics prior to an important qualifying match. You can view any forthcoming fixtures by clicking on the Schedule tab within the Nations Overview page.
Selecting the formation and tactics for your national team is the same process as for any club side that you are currently managing. To access the formation and tactics for your national team you will need to click on the Tactics tab within the Nations Overview page.
Regarding fitness and international matches all players are 100% fit for the game, and no fitness is reduced for playing in a game.
Each national association has been allocated its real-life national stadium were possible to play its home fixtures during the SMFA World Cup Qualifiers. For the national associations which do not have a national stadium in real-life we have allocated one of the main stadiums from that country.
Players will not be able to pick up an injury whilst on international duty, however, they can pick up injuries whilst playing for their club. Also a player can and will pick up suspensions whilst on international duty.
The following rules apply for a suspension during qualifiers:
If a player is suspended then you can still select him in your squad but he will not be available for your starting XI. After the SMFA World Cup Qualifiers all yellow cards are cleared for each player and his card count is reset for the SMFA World Cup or the next SMFA World Cup Qualifiers fixtures. However, if a player has any suspensions it will carry over into the SMFA World Cup or the next SMFA World Cup Qualifiers fixtures.
The following rules apply for a suspension during the SMFA World Cup:
If a player is suspended then you can still select him in your squad but he will not be available for your starting XI. After the SMFA World Cup Qualifiers all yellow cards are cleared for each player and his card count is reset for the SMFA World Cup. There may come a time when you have had enough of your current international job (for whatever reason) and want to resign as manager of the country in question.
If this is the case you need to click on Quit/Withdraw within My Home and then select the country in question to resign from prior to entering your Soccer Manager login password to confirm your decision.
