Free agents are players within a Game World without a club.
There are a number of ways that a player can become a free agent. Firstly, if a manager has released them from their current squad. Secondly, if they have just been added to the Soccer Wiki and their club is within a league in the Game World. Thirdly, when the player database is updated from the Soccer Wiki and their new club is within a league in the Game World. Lastly, if they have no club on the Soccer Wiki.
A player within your squad can be released from his current contract and become a free agent by accessing their Player Profile and clicking on the Release button.
You will then be asked if you are sure you want to release that player for free. If you are sure you want to release him as a free agent you will need to click on Confirm Release.
Any player who is classed as an important player within your squad by the Chairman will not be allowed to be released as a free agent, and the action will be blocked immediately.
Any player who has a transfer ban will not be allowed to be released as a free agent, and the action will be blocked immediately.
New players that are transferred from Soccer Wiki are often added as free agents.
A new player will become a free agent in your Game World if the club he is attached to on the Soccer Wiki is within a league in the Game World.
However, if the club the he is attached to on the Soccer Wiki is not within a league in the Game World he will be added to his clubs respective squad.
If a player has no club on the Soccer Wiki then they will start off as a free agent in any new Game World.
However, in an existing Game World, if a player has no club on the Soccer Wiki, this will not effect their in-game status and they will not automatically become a free agent.
When a player transfers to a new club on the Soccer Wiki, the database is updated to reflect the player's new club.
If that player was at an external club and their new club on the Soccer Wiki is within a league in the Game World, then they will automatically become a free agent.
However, this will only happen if that player has never been active in that Game World.
There are several different ways in which you can find a player who is a free agent.
You can click on a players name anywhere in the game or using the Search to find a particular player and then view their Player Profile to see if their Transfer Status is Free Agent.
Alternatively you can visit the New Players page to see if any of the latest players that have been added to the Player Database are free agents within your Game World.
You will be able to see which of the newly added players are free agents as they will have Free Agent listed as their Club.
If you find a player that is a free agent and you wish to make an offer for him, click on the players name to access his Player Profile and then on Make Transfer Bid.
Free agents can be signed for a 'signing on fee' of at least 75% of their value.
