If you are a new manager then we recommend you take a few minutes to read our Getting Started to familiarise yourself with the game.
Soccer Manager is a real time game with matches played at fixed times during the week. Each Game World has a set amount of clubs which can be managed and are split across a number of divisions. All other clubs and players within the Game World can be interacted with.
Soccer Manager can be compared to a small community, where you are able to tend to your team(s), communicate with other managers via Private Messages and the Forum , do business and follow the match commentary via the Score Centre.
Your most important tool on the site is the Main Tool Bar, which is located on the top of the screen and the various sub-menus associated with it.
Once you have signed in via the index page you will then automatically access My Home and it will display the club(s) currently under your control.
All aspects of the game are predominantly controlled via the Main Tool Bar.
My Home is your personal news and information page for the Soccer Manager world. This page has 4 main functions:
Soccer Manager gives you the freedom of choice to manage the team you want in the Game World type you want. However, you can only manage one team in each Game World at any one time otherwise you will be deemed to have broken the Terms of Use.
My Home will show you what teams you currently manage and what Game World type that team is in.
If you want to join in as a new club or want to manage a second team then you have to click Add New Club.
Once you have clicked on Add New Club you will have the option to choose what Game World Type you want to join and also have a choice of available clubs within that Game World or choose a club and then the Game World type that club is in.
Once you have selected a club just click Take Control of Club and you will become the new manager. You will then be taken to your Club Overview.
The Club Overview is the main area for managing your club on a day to day basis.
The Club Overview will also display a Game World News Feed, any news related to your Game World will appear here. It will also display a Game World Mini Calendar along with a Mini Schedule for your club.
One of the main aims in the game is to buy and sell players to improve your squad.
The squad is an overview of the players that you have at your disposal.
Click on a player's name to access their Player Profile to view more information about that player and interact with him.
Each player is given one rating within a scale of 60 to 99 (with 99 being the highest rated) on the Soccer Wiki and this information is transferred over.
Each player has a morale and condition level which changes over time depending on how you handle them. Please note that a player's morale may drop or increase at the start of a season.
Each player has a Chairman's Value which represents how important he is to the squad, this value is used as the basis in any transfer deals (see Transfers).
It is important to know when your games are scheduled to be played.
The schedule contains the fixture list for the current season. Each club competes in a structured league and other cup competitions.
Matches are played at 20:00 Game Time, on fixed dates which are listed. Each match will automatically kick-off, there is no need to be online at kick-off time.
After each game a Match Report is produced. This can be viewed by clicking on the Match Report link or viewed in a running commentary by clicking the Score Centre link. Before each game you will need to set your tactics.
Here you choose your match day squad and set up your formation and team instructions. This can be done anytime before your match kick off time.
You can select any player in your squad as long as they are not injured, suspended or cup tied. You need to select players based on their position, rating, morale, form and condition.
You can create instructions, such as substitutions, for a specific time and situation during the game. These instructions will then automatically occur during the game and show on the match report.
Soccer Manager believes that most of the answers to your questions are covered within our Help or can be answered by experienced members within the Answer Centre. However, on occasions you may need to contact Support in relation to Bugs, Cheating or Upgrades Queries.
